Welcome to the Association of Licensed Immigration Advisers in New Zealand
As a professional organization exclusive to LIAs, the LIAA represents its members in a market where agility is essential for LIAs to remain relevant.
With more than 600 Licensed Immigration Advisers as members, the LIAA stands for a highly specialized group of immigration professionals who combined submit a large share of all adviser-supported visa applications to Immigration NZ.
Our members vigorously represent their migrant clients and families, NZ employers and communities.
They work on their own or in group practices; they appeal before the Immigration and Protection Tribunal; they request ministerial intervention – and their knowledge is priceless.
The LIAA is led by a diverse board that includes LIAs practising in New Zealand and overseas. Our board members represent LIAs of different experience levels and backgrounds and have staggered terms to allow for succession without compromising the experience level of the board.
A Chair a Vice-Chair and the Board front-face the organization and take their instructions from the membership.
Committees manage the specific interests of LIAA members: Stakeholder Relations, Media/PR, Member Care, CPD and LIA Future.
We welcome every LIA to join us and contribute to our industry.
Every LIAA member adheres to the strictest Code of Practice in the immigration industry in New Zealand.
It holds all members accountable to practice to the highest professional standard. It requires LIAA members to maintain a level of competence that assures clients a superb knowledge level when they are represented.
Our Code of Practice sets the scene for LIAA members to refresh their skills regularly and to actively contribute to the LIA community.
With the LIAA representing the largest group of LIAs in New Zealand, members have the support of a vibrant and active professional community of well-qualified colleagues.
It is a privilege to lead the Licensed Immigration Advisers Association (LIAA) alongside our Board.
LIA’s play a critical role in New Zealand’s immigration system, and the LIAA exists to support its members while contributing as a credible, professional voice within the industry.
Our focus is on practical support for advisers, strong professional standards, and constructive engagement across the sector.
For our members, this means meaningful value and a strong professional community. For migrants, employers, and the wider public, it means confidence in working with competent, licensed advisers.
